Decemystery 21: The Infamous Beacon of Hate

A shortwave radio.
Mysteries come in all shapes in sizes. Sometimes, they’re ghost ships. Other times, they’re unsolved riddles. Then there are unsolved murders and disappearances. However, not all mysteries have some sort of malice behind them. Sometimes, they’re just weird things that happen or are found that nobody can explain the origin behind. Case in point: The Infamous Beacon of Hate.

This shortwave radio signal was detected back in 2000 by a man who later went on to start a website covering it—which I will link at the end if you wish to check out the full details as I want to keep this story short and sweet. The writer states they began detecting it and that it was using morse code to send out its messages. They were as follows…

“THE US GOV RIPED OFF THE CAMELS THEY CAN'T PUT IN GOD WE TRUS MN THE MONEY”

This, I think, is referring to the US government having ripped off the Middle East. These messages repeatedly use “camel” as an insult (I believe). I’m inclined to believe it’s referring to Muslims due to a later message.

“BT PRINT THE TRACKS CAMELS ANB DON'T PAY TAXES THE US GOV SAS THE MARK MF THE BEAST”

As will become apparent, these messages have an extremely large amount of typos. I can’t say for certain if they’re intentional or not, but some require a professional translator of poor English to understand. This one states that “camels” don’t pay taxes and that the US government has the Mark of the Beast— which is given to those who follow the Antichrist will be branded with as told in the Book of Revelation. It’s a sign that they turned their backs on Jesus Christ.

“THE MARK OF THE BEAST IN GOD WE TRUST JESUS CHRIST BE CURSED”

This is referring to the Book of Revelation—the final book of the Christian Bible. Specifically, it’s referring to a two things. The first is the “Mark of the Beast” which I explained above.

The second, and this one I’m less sure about, is one of the final verses of Revelation, where John states the following:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Basically: to take away or add to Revelation is to be cursed. I’m likely looking into this too much, but it’s something that caught my attention quite a bit.

“KILL ALL THE PORN AND RELIGIONS OFF FOR REAL CAMELS OR KILL …”

Pornography and religion have always gone together like ten gallons of petrol and the Human Torch. Though after saying “In God we trust”, it feels really weird to turn around and demand that we kill off all religions.

“BT JUST WALK IN EFRAT THE CAMELS CAN'T GIVE U BACK GIVE THEM ALL THEIR MONEY BACK AND TELL THEM ALL ****U PAY THE FULL AMOUNT FOR WINE AND ROSES 91 YEARS OF TRACKS AND 15 YEARS OF CHASEING UNTIFF THEAR ALL 42 PFUS”

I can’t even begin to tell you what this says. I guess give back the “camels” their money and… I give up.

“TAKE ALL THE WIFES FROM THE PORN AND RELIGIONS CAMELS U TOOK MINE FOR 15 YEARS”

This one I think states that we should take all women from porn and religion and that I guess a “camel” took this guys wife for 15 years? I can’t quite tell due to how the sentence feels like it’s missing well over 80% of the context.

“KILL ALL THE PORN AND RELIGIONS OFF FOR REAL U CAN'T LIVE RIGH ON THE HOG AND HAVE YOUR WIE TOO”

This pretty much repeats something that was said above, but “U CAN’T LIVE RIGH ON THE HOG AND HAVE YOUR WIE TOO” sounds like it’d make for some pretty sick lyrics to a metal song. That or an Ozzy song. Too bad I can’t tell you what that means—just like when Ozzy sings.

“BLOW UP THE DOME KILL OFF BILLIONS CAMELS U GUYS DON'T WANT TO PRINT THE TRACKS OR DO THE CHASEING FOR 15 YEARS UNTILL YOUR 42P”

Oooookay. This is why I said that I believed “camel” was referring to Muslims. This message states that we should blow up the “Dome”, which is referring to the “Dome of the Rock”. It’s built next to the Temple Mount—a sacred Jewish holy site. The Dome is the location where the Prophet of Islam—Muhammad—is said to have risen up to Heaven. However, while I have context for “camels”, I can’t figure out what “print the tracks”, “chaseing for 15 years”, or “42p” means. The closest I have is that “42p” means the 42nd President of the United States, which was Bill Clinton. These messages were sent out in the second half of 2000, which was when the presidential election was nearing its end.

“U CAMELS O US MILLIONS OF TRILLIONS OF TRACKS AND 15 YERRS OF CHASEING UNTILL YOUR 42 PFUSE WETH NO PAY BL POTNF”

And just like that, “42 PFUSE WETH” comes into play. I’m not even going to try to decipher this.

“PRINT THE TRACKS KILL THE PORN AND RELIGION OFF TO”

Off to what? To space?

“PRINT THE TRACKS OR KILL OFF ONE A WEEK AN CUT THE FINGER OFF FOR PROFE KILL THE CAMEL OFF IF THEY DON'T”

What in the world am I even reading at this point?

“U CAMELS O US MILLIONS OF TRILLIONS OF TRACKS AND 15 YERRS OF CHASEING UNTILL YOUR 42 PFUSE WETH NO PAY BL POTNF”

I think I’m going to have an aneurysm.

“BLOW UP THE DOME CAN A ? OR PRINT THE TRACKS BIBLE LIES PYRAMIDS OLDER THAN NOAH'S FA?OD”

I think this is asking for Canada to blow up the Dome of the Rock. Or to do something, and that the Bible lies and there are Pyramids older than Noah’s flood. Which is odd, because I always thought that the Old Testament took place after the Pyramids were built. Or is my Bible knowledge failing me? I think I’m losing memory reading this nonsense.

“AMERICANS ARE F***ERS KILL THEM ALL OFF FOR REAL”

Hah, bring it. The US Military will turn your damn world into a crater the size of small city. Bitch.

“NO CUTS NO GOD JEWS KILLED AND STOLED PALASTINE”

The last message on the website lists. I’m so glad that the US education system persists into whatever age this miserable bastard is.

And that’s pretty much the story of the “Infamous Beacon of Hate”. I hope you’re still with me as it’s time to move onto theories! And what lovely theories are there to this little mystery? Well, there are a few and they’re less unusual compared to the other theories I’ve had to type these past three weeks.

The first is that it was someone with serious anger issues that wanted to vent their frustrations. Everyone has their ways of venting anger—I myself have done things I wish I hadn’t done when angry and have at other points used it for creative purposes, such as writing. In this case, I can believe that the creator of this broadcast was possibly trying to vent frustrations about the Middle East, Israel, or the Military Industrial Complex in general.

The second theory is it was just a crazy person. As generic and underwhelming as that sounds, crazy people do crazy things. The ranting and raving this person did about everything from camels to the US Government matches up with someone who has potential paranoid schizophrenia. His wife also leaving him over pornography (at least I’m assuming it was pornography) sounds like a cover for his insane ramblings.

The third is aliens. It’s not a Decemystery blog post without aliens, amirite?

The fourth is that this is the work of a militant Christian. This looks is probably one of the more plausible theories as most looney Christians typically stick to making monumental asses of themselves (at least in my experiences), though it begs the question as to why they simply stopped doing this. If they ended up getting arrested, then… did they finally snap? Also, if they were Christian, why’d they say to “kill off all religion” after they wanted to kill off porn?

The fifth and final theory I’ll propose is that it was something trying to stir up a story. Looking back at Lost Boy Larry, we see that not everything has to be real. While I showcased that a bit more with nasajim108, the fact of the matter is: people like to do weird things for all sorts of reasons. Whether it be a copycat crime or an obscure art project. People do weird things for weird reasons. The Beacon of Hate, although it has the makings of someone who likely had anger issues, could just as easily be someone who’s bored who wanted to screw with people in the name of fun. Low effort and potentially high reward, though I can’t quite say this panned out as they might have wanted it to.

The Beacon of Hate is one of those mysteries that lacks any sort of malice behind it; coming across as one akin to The Max Headroom Broadcast Intrusion. While it's no doubt someone who was very angry and wished to vent their frustrations to the masses, it's the who that intrigues some. And whoever operated this signal, I can only hope that they're less angry now. Here's a link to the website where I found the above mentioned broadcasts from. I recommend reading it for more information.
